Our defined focus

How might we design an immersive VR exhibition that effectively visualizes the invisible nature of dark matter, conveys complex research in an engaging and scientifically accurate way, and balances interactivity with a structured museum-like experience for young adults?

I wanted to let the user visit the deep underground Gran Sasso Research laboratory, which is specialized in dark matter research, through an elevator. This way, they have an unforgettable experience that can be connected to the scientific content they are learning about.

Key Outcomes

  • A fully interactive VR experience for museum visitors
  • Scientifically accurate visualization of dark matter
  • A working technical prototype ready for user testing
  • Screenshots of the technical prototype.

    Findings

As I have never worked with Virtual Reality technology, not even in 3D space before, there were a lot of new things that I had to get comfortable with during this project. Since I developed an entire technical prototype for it, the next sensible step would be to test it with more people than just myself and acquaintances.
